Metrogam-USP should be used only for an appropriate diagnosed or strongly suspected infection and according to professional medical advice. Unnecessary use of antimicrobial medicines can contribute to antimicrobial resistance.
The appropriate dose and duration depend on the type of infection and individual clinical circumstances. Use only according to the prescribing healthcare professional’s instructions.
Store the medicine according to the conditions specified on the manufacturer’s packaging. Keep it in its original packaging and out of reach of children.
Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to metronidazole or other nitroimidazole medicines should not use it. Metronidazole can also cause neurological adverse effects in some patients; unusual neurological symptoms should receive prompt medical evaluation.
Possible adverse effects include nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, headache, and dizziness. More serious neurological reactions, including peripheral neuropathy and seizures, have also been reported.

Alcohol should be avoided during metronidazole treatment and for at least three days after completing treatment, because unpleasant reactions such as abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, headache, and flushing may occur.
